The Old Piano... Lying beneath the stairs... Reminds me how you played... When only we were there... The keys have become old... But I remember your every note... It lays imprinted in my mind... I replay it alone at times... The stairs, where I used to sit... Hiding myself in every bit... Feeling your fingers' tips... Moving along in music... That time you played that song... Which filled my heart for long... The words of love untold... I heard and felt it uncontrolled... Now you are not here anymore... Only your memories and the song... Play, rewind in my mind... The old piano beneath the stairs... Standing to be played again... And I still wait on the stairs... To hear your song that you once played... © Ravinder Kaur 25/02/16 |

The Old Piano beneath the Stairs...
Drifting Apart....
I cut myself into pieces...
I was a cloud, once of emotions...
Drifting apart in the sky...
Picked up tears of myself...
Making dew, frost, mist and rain...
For some, blank I remained...
Not forgiving them my pain...
Each one wanted a part of me...
To cherish, to believe...
My heart is clean...
I couldn't speak, I just couldn't...
Watching them speak, I just couldn't be...Some called me rock at heart...
Some called me rose of love divine...
For some my silence was sweet...
For some my words sound of violin...
For some a deep sea...
For some an empty dream...
I had faces for each one...
Yet no one knew me well...
I hid myself behind a mask...
Which changes with the onlooker's gaze...
Who's the culprit, who's at guilt...
Me after all, I always was...
I can't give, for I don't have...Am a broken dream...
Of your dawn...
A fruitless tree, an empty treasure...
I have no will, am a drifting cloud...
Which drifts away with the moving wind...
And doesn't wait to see the yield...
I am a lonesome wanderer...
Who doesn't keep company...
Rain Drops
Rain drops fall on us...
We try to hide but collide...
Into each other's eyes...
Giggle at, when touched so close...
Humming like bees...
The clouds are gargling may be...
Trembling us with occasional lights...
Lighting up crazy smiles...
Between you and me...
And sounds of chuckling...
We caught in rain...
Embraced...
Kissed...
And felt the rain...
Love through the parting drops...
Reuniting us in that pleasant drain...

The Dusk is leaving...
The Dusk is leaving...
Probably for a distant stroll...
Heaving a sigh over...
Looking back at the day...
The dusk is leaving...
May be to have some time alone...
Thinking about its youth...
Slowing down near the pool...
The dusk is leaving...
Igniting some dying sparks...
Buried deep in night's heart...
The dusk I leaving...
It's footprints in the golden sands...
Falling in heaps, in time's land...
The dusk is leaving...
The day will soon end...
But where'll be dusk then?
May be in rhyming winds...
Those accompanying...
The elongated shadows...
May be in the heart of night...
Where it falls asleep...
Still murmuring...
At the day's events...
Long and tired some...
The nest of silence...
Healing its burning wounds...
Caressing it to emerge soon...
As the day will rise again...
The dusk will too...
Not to leave...
But to depart at the juncture...
Of day and night...
Where real love exists...
Thrown open to the naked eyes...
Not hidden behind any doors...
Departing to dwell in eyes...
Like an unforgettable dream...
Of paradise beautiful...

On my way...... back
On my way back,
I looked up at the tree,
The sweet light fragrance,
Recalled your memories.
Those scented, little darlings,
Hanging on the tree,
You plucked them for me,
Back in my dreams.
Under the tree,
I wait for you.....Again.
To see you pluck them,
For....Me.
And I.... see you smiling,
There Up.... to me.
I haven't forgotten,
Those days.
When in mornings,
Beside the coffee cup,
You placed those flowers,
Catching me smiling,
Like a little girl to her dolls.
Wake me up from this .....Oh dear!
Gift me nothing else, but these.
I miss nothing else but them and.....You!
Together under the tree.
Still that wait and urge,
When I see them bloom.
And you... not here,
To give me...your love.

Sometimes...
Sometimes I feel...
You talk to me...
Through the silence...
Of unspoken words...
Confusing me...
Beyond my understanding..
But my heart ...
It understands ...
What you never said...
But meant always...
An unending stream of love...
Through eyes that only see you smile..
And those words that echo now and then
In the void of silence between us...

Without Dreams (Inspired By Lawanya Wijesekara's poem)
She lived without dreams...
So attracted wisdom not preached...
When she started to dream...
She joined others to cry and weep...
Without dreams...
She was unconquerable...
And with dreams, all doubted...
Her strength including her...
Without dreams...
She appreciated the creator...
And with dreams...
She tried colouring only hers...
Without dreams...
She was a puzzle to others...
And with dreams...
A prey to the ferocious predator...
Without a dream...
Every direction leading somewhere...
And with a dream...
Always finding herself nowhere...
